A$AP Rocky’s criminal gun-assault trial is on track to begin next week in Los Angeles. The charges stem from an alleged incident where Rocky apparently fired shots at his former friend A$AP Relli on a Hollywood, California, street three years ago. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Mark S. Arnold said jury selection is scheduled to begin on Tuesday. Rocky, born Rakim Mayers, will appear in person each day, with prosecutors planning to make a new plea-deal offer to Mayers before the trial gets underway. Joseph Tacopina, the attorney for the Grammy-nominated rapper, said the offer would be a pointless endeavor. “From our side, we have no interest in a settlement,” Tacopina told the court. “He’s eager to tell his story. He would love the opportunity to do so,” Tacopina told Rolling Stone. The 36-year-old Mayers has pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and if convicted, he faces up to 24 years in prison. (Rolling Stone)
